Hello,
Welcome to my online gallery. I am a relatively experienced amateur photographer, and hope that you will enjoy my images. I spend most of my time photographing the outdoors, in the Rocky Mountain region of the USA. My goal with photography is to capture a place, as I see it, in the most accurate way possible. Though, I don't tend to seek out photos - I tend to seek out places. Most of the places that you'll see in my galleries are not typically found on postcards in tourist shops, and I have good reason for that.
I am a fourth generation resident of Colorado, and greatly appreciate the place that I live. I believe it is in the best interests of people to keep our lands natural, and limit development in sensitive areas. This is one reason why I take pictures and go the places that I do - these lands are being consumed by pavement, resorts, and housing developments at an alarming rate. When you're viewing my images, try to imagine a housing development or a highway blasting through one of them, and ask yourself if the image would have the same impact and value. As the saying goes, 'take only photographs, leave only footprints' - though I'll take a motorized dirt trail over asphalt or concrete, any day.
Please explore my galleries, and feel free to contact me (peter@nativecophoto.com) with questions, comments and critiques.
Tread lightly,
Peter Gibbons
